Today, I had the privilege of visiting the Saint Louis Art Museum to look into their collection, particularly seeking works by Edward Boccia. It was an insightful visit guided by Mr. Simon Kelly, Curator and Head of Modern Contemporary Art, who generously shared his expertise, presenting the works and offering a thoughtful tour of the museum's highlights.
As I left the museum, I took a moment to revisit the two monumental sculptures at the museum’s entrance, crafted by Daniel Chester French and brought to life by the skilled hands of the Piccirilli Brothers in their Bronx studio. These works, a testament to collaborative artistry, stand as enduring symbols of precision and artistry.
Additionally, I had the opportunity to photograph the intricate medallions designed and executed by Horatio Piccirilli, which adorn the museum’s exterior. These medallions, rich in detail and craftsmanship, serve as a reminder of the enduring contributions of the Piccirilli family to the architectural and sculptural landscape of the United States.
This visit was not just about exploring art but also about connecting with the legacy of the creators whose work continues to inspire.
